The black rice: the fordibben rice

Have you tasted the black rice? It is a whole grain variety known in ancient China as “forbidden rice” because only Chinese nobles and the imperial family could eat it. They considered it a source of youth and, for that reason its consumption was prohibited  to the common people under penalty of death.

And they Chinese nobles were right because it is rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamin E, mineral salts, phosphorus and iron, and also has natural anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, it is delicious with an aroma reminiscent of nuts.

You can find this jewel in El Raconet verd del Mercat de la Concepció
